Discover the history of Agimont Castle
Agimont Castle is a former seigneurial castle, the centre of the eponymous county, built in Givet bluestone. It stands on a rocky promontory in the Ardennes, above the town of Givet, offering an exceptional panorama over the Meuse valley.

The lords of Agimont
The de Looz family served as lords of Agimont for centuries, making this castle the seat of power of a mighty county. In the 17th century, the castle passed to the Wanzoulle family, continuing the seigneurial tradition of the place.
The Puissant family
In 1931, the Puissant family, iron masters from Charleroi and leading figures in Walloon industry, purchased the 100-hectare estate. They undertook major restoration work to restore the castle to its former glory.
The Count and Countess of Paris
The castle was given to the Count and Countess of Paris for their wedding by the Duke of Guise. The Countess affectionately described the castle as a 'nest of blue granite' where 'protocol was absent'. The Count would arrive in a red Bugatti at weekends from Brussels, adding a dash of panache to this already storied place.
The war and post-war period
In 1939, the Count and Countess left the castle for good as conflict approached. The estate deteriorated during the war, suffering the ravages of time and occupation.
Agimont Adventure
In 1951, the castle was converted into a holiday centre, beginning a new chapter focused on leisure. It later became Agimont Adventure, the adventure park you know today, carrying on the spirit of welcome and wonder that has always defined this exceptional place.
