History

Agimont had a lordly castle which was the center of the eponymous county. It is made of blue stones from Givet, the Looz family was the lord for a long time, then in the 17th century to the Wanzoulle family; it was bought in 1931 from the Puissant family, forges masters of Charleroi and inhabited by the family of the count of Paris who left it in 1939 and it remained unoccupied until 1951 before being transformed into a holiday center

The castle of Agimont is located on the borders of the Belgian Ardennes above Givet, in the village ofAgimont. The castle, which is surrounded by 100 hectares, was offered to the Count and Countess of Paris on the occasion of their wedding in 1931 by the Duke of Guise and Prince Pierre d’Orléans-Bragance.

Comfortable built on top of a rocky outcrop, the blue granite castle that the Countess of Paris called “nest of blue granite” has a breathtaking view of France.

The Countess of Paris enjoyed spending time at Agimont where protocol was absent and which was also her first real home since her marriage. The Count and Countess resided in Brussels at the Manor of Anjou but spent periods in Agimont. The Count of Paris joined his wife and children every weekend, arriving aboard his red Bugatti, another wedding present.

The princely couple and their elders left Agimont in 1939, never to return. After the war, the castle was found in a very bad state.
